Never Before a Fruitful Day

Today is Sunday but it feels like Saturday to me. Probably because tomorrow is a PH? I woke up early as usual and together with Kui, his mum and 3rd sis, we went Ikea to shop for some furniture and accessories. Kui wanted to make a long table 288 x 38cm which is from one end to the other end of the room. This either has to be custom made or we would just have to join 2 planks of wood if we're lucky to find the right width at Ikea. We got a few ideas as we browsed through. I was thinking it doesn't matter even if we didn't find the right size of the wooden plank. We'll just pick a few of those brackets and table leg first and worse come to the worst, we can customise at the timber factory. At the very end where we've picked all the accessories needed, there is a section where they sell those defective furnitures at a lower price. I spotted 2 wardrobe doors which is in high glossy white and I like it very much. (I've always adored white besides stuff which are pink in colour). And most imporatntly it was selling at $60 for each instead of the usual $125. However the size turns out to have a width of 50cm which has exceeded the desired 38cm. Kui suggested that we saw off the excess but it was too much to saw since the length is too long and it would not be consistently straight if we are going to use a handsaw. Anyway we'll just take these 2 planks first.

On the way to the cashier, a book shelf caught Kui's attention and to our amaze, the wooden planks that made up the shelf are just what we need! The width is exactly 38cm. Perfect! We are going to dismantle the book shelf and modify it to be a table. I'm too tired to continue blogging after all those sawing, filing, screwing, carrying and vacuuming, my arms are too painful and tired.. But we did manage to modify the shelf to an L table, the table which I'm now blogging right in front of. I might update again tomorrow... Good night.
